Dr. Mabiala earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Marien Ngouabi University in 2004. He completed a postgraduate diploma in Mathematical Sciences at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in 2007 and then began his PhD studies in experimental nuclear physics at Stellenbosch University under Prof. A.A. Cowley. After obtaining his PhD in 2010, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Stellenbosch University and iThemba LABS. In 2011, he joined the Yennello Research Group at Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute for three years and later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at INFN – Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro in Italy until 2016. Since 2017, he has been with the Chemistry and Physics Department at Prairie View A&M University. His research focuses on Fermi-energy heavy-ion collisions, nuclear phase transitions, nuclear structure, and the production of radioisotopes for nuclear medicine. Dr. Mabiala has co-authored over 25 articles in high-impact journals and presented at several international Nuclear Physics conferences.

Research Interests

  1. Fermi-Energy Heavy-Ion Collisions: Studying nuclear matter at high energies to understand fundamental interactions and recreate early universe conditions.
  2. Nuclear Phase Transitions: Investigating how nuclear matter behaves under varying temperature and density, which is crucial for understanding extreme environments like neutron stars.
  3. Nuclear Structure: Exploring the arrangement and interactions of protons and neutrons in nuclei to enhance our knowledge of nuclear stability.
  4. Production of Radioisotopes for Nuclear Medicine: Focusing on synthesizing radioactive isotopes for medical diagnostics and treatments to improve their safety and efficiency.

Teaching Interests

Teaching Statement/Philosophy

Teaching is my passion, presenting challenges and rewards. My goal is to foster effective learning while engaging students. I use an interactive lecture format, accommodating diverse learning styles with multiple problem-solving approaches.

I start each class with a review and encourage questions to ensure understanding. I assess student progress through varied methods, including quizzes and extra credit, promoting independent thinking.

Each interaction enriches my scholarship, and I look forward to teaching different physics courses. I continually refine my techniques through feedback and professional development, ensuring my teaching remains dynamic and relevant.
