At Prairie View A&M University, assistance is available for students experiencing mental health concerns. During office hours, 8:00a.m. until 7:00p.m. on Monday –Wednesday, and 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. on Thursday –Friday, please call Student Counseling Services at (936) 261-3564 or come to our office currently located in the Women’s Center Room 101A for assistance.

Some of the professional staff in Student Counseling Services are a part of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention (RSVP) Program for PVAMU students.  During regular university hours, the Student Counseling Service’s staff is available for crisis counseling.  For after-hours emergencies, an on-call counselor will be available by calling the crisis hotline number at (936) 553-0990 or call the PVAMU Police Department at (936) 261-1375 or 4911, or visit the Emergency Room at the closest hospital.

Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Services

Counseling is available for students involved in sexual violence through Student Counseling Services. Taking advantage of a person sexually who is mentally or physically incapable of giving consent (for example, intoxication) is rape. Although rape is usually a crime committed against women, it can also happen to men. If a student is a victim of sexual assault, domestic violence, or stalking, he or she may contact and/or seek the assistance of or file a student complaint with:
