The CPL is an advanced physics lab intended for junior and senior level students in physics and engineering. The CPL is equipped with several high performance workstations with multiple operating system environments, and running a number of computational and simulation programs including MATLAB, Mathematica, Numerical Recipes, the Electronic Workbench, and others.

The goal of the CPL is to provide opportunities to students from physics, engineering and related disciplines to explore available environments for modeling and simulation as well as the development of algorithms for a new generation of simulators.

The benefits to students include experience with state-of-the-art equipment, knowledge of computational modeling and simulation programs, and advanced problem solving and research skills.

The benefits to the community, the State of Texas and the nation include an enhanced state of preparedness for the industrial workforce, graduate degree programs and national laboratories.
