Biography
Dr. Joseph Han received his B.S. in Physics from Yonsei University in 2006, his M.S. in Experimental Particle Physics from the same university in 2008, and his PhD in Nuclear Physics from Texas A&M University in 2016. Prior to joining Prairie View A&M University in 2023, he worked as a postdoc at the Quantum Science and Engineering Institute at Texas A&M University and taught as an adjunct at Lone Star College. His research covers a wide range of topics in theoretical nuclear physics and attosecond physics. His interests in nuclear physics include hadronization of partons produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions, exploration of quark-gluon plasmas, and medium effects of jet partons in QGP media. In attosecond physics, he studies the amplification of X-ray laser pulse trains in infrared (IR) or optical laser-modulated plasma media, and the induction of transparency of X-ray laser pulses in IR/optical laser-modulated plasma media.
Research Interests
- Attosecond Laser Physics: how to amplify attosecond X-ray laser pulses in a plasma medium modulated by IR/optical lasers, how to get induced transparency of X-ray laser pulses, etc
- Nuclear Physics: how to probe quark-gluon plasma, how to describe the formation of hadrons from partons, medium effects in hadronization, etc
