The Master of Science in Accounting program is a specialized graduate degree offered through the PVAMU College of Business.  Students receive advanced training in accounting to prepare aspiring accounting professionals for careers in public, private and governmental accounting.  This program assists graduates in meeting the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy prerequisites for the Uniform CPA Examination.

Accounting core classes for the MSA program are offered in a hybrid format (50% traditional classroom, 50% online) Saturdays at the Prairie View A&M University Northwest Houston Center located near FM 1960 and Tomball Parkway (SH 249) in Houston, Texas.  Financial Management (FINA 5103) and elective courses are offered online and in the evenings.

BBA/MSA 4+1 Program in Accounting

The 4+1 program in accounting is designed to help undergraduate accounting majors transition smoothly into the master of science in accounting (MSA) program. PVAMU’s College of Business offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in profit or not-for-profit enterprises.  The program integrates various business disciplines to provide the high-quality educational experience needed to assume a leadership role as a manager or entrepreneur.

  • The MBA (online and evening programs) are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
  • The program is flexible.  Students may choose the evening MBA program with courses offered in Houston at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center or take advantage of the online MBA and earn their MBA completely online.

For students who want more schedule flexibility and a deeper knowledge of specific topics or more time in foundation courses, the College of Business offers a fully online MBA and evening or part-time MBA at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center. Classes are offered online, in-class and in a hybrid format.  Students take core courses with opportunities to take elective courses to broaden their scope of knowledge in specialized areas.

The Executive MBA program is a fast-paced, highly structured program with Saturday hybrid courses. Twelve foundational courses are designed to empower students with professional competencies to be applied immediately in their own business environment.

Students from all backgrounds are welcome: liberal arts, education, engineering healthcare and so on.  While a bachelor’s degree is required for admission, a bachelor’s degree in business is not required. There is no GMAT or GRE requirement for admission to this program. Some international students may need to take the TOEFL, but there is no GMAT, GRE or thesis required for admission to the MBA or MSA programs.

Classes for all graduate programs are offered in the fall, spring and summer, with breaks between semesters. In the fall and spring semesters, most students take two classes each semester.  Students in the MS in Accounting program should expect to take core accounting courses in the summer.  Most students can complete the program within two years.

Classes are held online or at the Prairie View A&M University Northwest Houston Campus located close to Willowbrook Mall near FM 1960 and Highway 249. The address is 9449 Grant Road, Houston, TX 77070.
