Posting Last Date of Attendance for Final Grades of “FN”
(“FN” – Grade-Stopped Out – is assigned as a final grade when the student failed to continue attending the class.)
- Federal guidelines require the Last Date of Attendance for every final grade assigned as FN.
- The student’s last date of attendance must be posted in the “Last Attends Date” field when posting FN grades.
- Failure to submit the last date of attendance when posting FN grades will result in an error message preventing the final grade from being submitted.
(FN – Grade-Stopped Out If a student has stopped attending the course (i.e. “stopped out”) at any point after the first day of class, but did not officially withdraw from the course and has missed assignments, exams, and the final exam, an FN (failed non-attendance) grade will be assigned for the final course grade to ensure compliance with the federal Title IV financial aid regulations. In contrast, an F grade will be assigned for the final course grade if the student has completed assignments, exams, and the final exam, but did not perform above that grade level.
