The International Baccalaureate program offers a comprehensive international education experience for students, emphasizing critical thinking, independent inquiry, and logical reasoning.

At Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), course credits are granted for IB exams taken at both the Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL). To qualify for course credit, students must attain the International Baccalaureate diploma and achieve a minimum score of 4 on the respective IB exam. Students who take an IB exam without earning the IB diploma will be assessed on an individual basis. No credit will be awarded if the student is currently enrolled in or has previously completed the corresponding course. Credit for PLA is subject to a total hour limitation of thirty (30) semester credit hours.

All students must consult the IB Exams – Course Equivalency Table, as PVAMU offers course credits for specific IB exams. Additionally, PVAMU strongly advises students to meet with their academic advisors to determine the most beneficial application of credits toward their degree progression. Students scoring under four on a particular IB exam will not be eligible for credit.

Please note that it is the student’s responsibility to request the articulation of their IB credit in the PVAMU system. To initiate the articulation process, all students, whether current, prospective, or transfer students, should send their official IB transcripts, including exam scores, and complete the PLA Request Form. The PVAMU IB Code for official transcript submission is 002185.
