PVAMU Credit By Exam – DSST

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) is a national testing program that offers students the opportunity to take exams in order to obtain college-level credit. DSST offers more than 35 exams in multiple subject areas. The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends that test-takers receive a passing score of 400 in order to be awarded credit, however qualifying scores vary by department and college.

Prairie View A&M University accepts scores from certain DSST tests for credit in selected courses. Interested students should review the DSST Course Equivalency Table to view the exams awarded for credit at the university and what course credit they will receive for that CLEP exam. Students should contact an academic counselor to determine which courses will apply to their prospective degree program. Scores must be received from DSST on an official DSST Score report/transcript before credit is awarded. Students wanting to take a DSST exam should contact the Office of Testing Services for information on registration and test sites.
