PVAMU Credit By Exam – AP Policy

The College Board Advanced Placement Program (AP) enables students to pursue college-level studies while still in high school. AP offers more than 30 exams in multiple subject areas. AP exams are given nationally at designated high schools during the month of May and are graded on a scale of 0-5.

Prairie View A&M University accepts scores from certain Advance Placement tests for credit in selected courses. A score of 3 or higher is needed for credit. Interested students should review the AP Course Equivalency Table to view the exams awarded for credit at the university and what course credit they will receive for that AP exam. Students should contact an academic counselor to determine which courses will apply to their prospective degree program. Scores must be received from the College Board on an official AP Student Score Report for Colleges and Universities. NOTE: all AP scores are based on the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE Credit) and is subject to change at any time.

Students should present their scores as soon as possible to allow time for them to be received, verified, and sent to the Admission’s office so the credit can be placed on their transcripts. Scores should be submitted no later than the semester before you are supposed to graduate.

NOTE: scores from exams taken in May do not arrive at PVAMU until mid-July!
