CEES provides student researchers an opportunity to work with the research scientists in the center on current projects. CEES offers financial support for both undergraduate and graduate student researchers. Students who are involved in our research projects are encouraged to attend conferences and other opportunities to display and present presentations of their research. CEES currently employs graduate students and undergraduate students on each of our projects in the fields of biofuels, energy and environment, or wind energy. Below is a list of our current research projects:
Center for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (CEES)- Phase II, NSF Center of Research Excellence in Research & Technology (CREST) program
- Excellence in Research: A Novel High Throughput Forward Osmosis Membrane for Produced Water Treatment
- Zero-Waste Poultry Processing with Sequential Membrane Separation and Anaerobic Digestion
- Systems-based integrated program for enhancing the sustainability of antibiotic-restricted poultry production
- Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI), A consortium lead by Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station to support OESI
- Excellence in Research: Hybrid Ceramic Membrane Bioreactor and Reverse Osmosis Processes for the removal of Micro and Nano plastics from Municipal Wastewater
- Automated Real-Time Measurement of Soil Properties with Unmanned Ground Vehicle
- Improving Sustainability and Reducing Environmental Impacts by Beneficially Reusing Hydraulic Fracturing Produced Water in Non-Food Agriculture
- Environmental Impact and Lifecycle Costs of Electricity Charging and Hydrogen Refueling Stations to Support Future Advanced Vehicles
- Houston Hydrogen Transportation Pilot
- A Low-Cost, Two-Stage Hollow Fiber Membrane Separation System for Ambient CO2 Capture: Preliminary Study
The center also provides employment opportunities to students every year. Students with engineering, science or agriculture majors and an interest in energy research are encouraged to apply for student assistant positions in the center. Interested students with good academic standing should contact the individual primary investigators in respective groups.
Research Grants and Funding
The success of the CEES research center is due, in large part, to the grants and funding from our external partners. In addition to the CEES research, the center participates in a variety of other research projects in an effort to help develop solutions to environmental issues. The following links will provide information on the center’s grants and funding sources as well as the objectives and current work of the projects.
Completed Projects
- USDOE – Carbon Capture
- UTC – LSU TranSet LCA
- USDA Goat Manure
