Academic Projects and Support

Collaboration | Analysis | Technology

Since the beginning of 2016, we have been busy behind the scenes making a better experience for the students here at Prairie View A&M. While the Office of Academic Technology is building its own foundation, we were able to address classroom technology issues at all three Prairie View campuses. We believe the student classroom experience is paramount.

We Liaise between Academic Affairs, colleges, and departments to assist with projects under Academic Affairs to include selection, implementation, maintenance, processes, and documentation, especially related to upgrades in technology and furniture as well as faculty, staff and lab computer and software replacements. Collaborate between Academic Affairs, colleges, and departments with other university components in areas of academic space utilization, policy compliance and procedure development, as well as departments to evaluate the hardware and software environment to eliminate duplicate expenditures; identify needs, process gaps, and assist with developing guidelines and processes; and manage technology expenses within budget while seeking maximum value.

We also Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Information Technology related policies and procedures; partner with the Information Security Office to ensure Academic Affairs compliance with federal, state, TAMUS, and TAC regulations, including responding to IT audits and implementing recommendations or corrective actions; work closely with the Office of Information Resource Management and the CIO to proactively communicate across the organization the visions, goals, objectives, actions, plans, decisions, policies, opportunities, and challenges of PVAMU technology services.

Provide data analysis support for departments to include use of available data for enrollment growth, student retention, and program completion, focusing on university tools such as Ad Astra, and Argos, as well as business analysis support for departments to include contract, funding, and implementation, ensuring receipt of all services as per contracts, tracking multiple year commitments, and tracking use, evaluation, and product version changes.

Provide executive-level technology guidance and direction for Academic Affairs through collaboration with the Provost, councils, committees, colleges and departments; represent Academic Affairs on committees and governance councils such as the PVAMU technology governance committees, the University Facilities Council, among others, including in leadership roles where appropriate.

Faculty and staff here at Prairie View A&M make our experience comfortable, and efficient. To maintain Prairie View’s unparalleled level of customer service, we are implementing new programs to our system, Ad Astra, Ellucian Degree Works, Ellucian Pilot, Ellucian Recruiter, FM: Systems, and Leapfrog, which help monitor enrollment, guide academic planning, manage recruitment, and manage our course catalog. Our goal in Academic Projects and Support is making our processes as seamless as possible.
