This exhibit was displayed for Black History Month 2019 and offered a look at the African-Americans who have served in the Texas Legislature since Reconstruction, who they were, what they accomplished and how they set the table for future black legislators. The exhibit also examined the voting process – rights, attempts to deny those rights, and the continuing issue of suppression.
