PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (January 19, 2024) Ram Ray, Ph.D., P.E., has been awarded nearly $500,000 by the USDA National Institute of Food Agriculture.

Ray is a Professor in the College of Agriculture & Human Sciences at Prairie View A&M University.

The Co-PIs are Research Scientist, Laura Carson, Ph.D.; Professor of Cooperative Agriculture Research Center Aruna Weerasooriya, Ph.D.; Extension Agent with the Cooperative Extension Program, Jeremy Peaches; and Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, MD Jobair Bin Alam, Ph.D.

The major goal of the USDA-NRCS project is to implement existing and new interventions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and increase soil carbon sequestration. In addition, the project aims to educate limited resource producers and help them understand the benefits of climate-smart farming.
