PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (April 18, 2024) – Ramalingam Radhakrishnan, Ph.D., P.E., has secured $500,000 in grant funding from the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) through the Consortium with the University of New Mexico being the lead institution.

Radakrishnan is a Professor of Civil in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Prairie View A&M University.

The grant initiative aims to reach across disciplines, inspiring and guiding students at PVAMU to delve into the crucial realm of nuclear security research. By selecting students who demonstrate both passion and potential within the College of Engineering, Dr. Radha aims to harness their skills and dedication for the greater good. Dr. Radha’s mission is clear: to identify and cultivate the next generation of engineering talent. Notably, during the Spring 2024 semester, four undergraduate students (comprising 2 Civil Engineering majors, 1 Mechanical Engineering major, and 1 Computer Engineering major) are supported by this grant.

Serving as the Principal Investigator (PI) at PVAMU within the UNM-NNSA Consortium, Dr. Radha will spearhead the project’s execution, ensuring its seamless integration into the university’s academic fabric.
