PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas, January 19, 2024) –  Lijun Qian, Ph.D., has been awarded $61,000 by the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM).

Qian is an AT&T Endowed Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Prairie View A&M University.

The Co-PIs are Professor and Director of Broadening Global Learning Opportunities Building Academic Leaders, Richard Wilkins, Ph.D.; Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Xiangfang Li, Ph.D.; and Dean of the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering, Pamela Obiomon, Ph.D.

The main focus of the grant is to develop Black talent at Historically Black Colleges and Universities from all STEM disciplines for the quantum future.   The IBM-HBCU Quantum Center will emphasize the power of community and focus on developing students through support and funding for research opportunities, curriculum development, workforce advocacy, and special collaborations.
