Purpose

This award is the highest honor bestowed on staff members by PVAMU. The accomplishments and contributions of those selected are highly meritorious and worthy of recognition. They have had an impact on not only PVAMU, but also on the broader community, the state of Texas, and/or at the national and international levels.

Award

The Presidential staff award is based on the accomplishments of the nominee up to the previous academic year. The nominees are expected to have functioned as a role model for staff and devoting appropriate service to the university.

Eligibility

A nominee for the Presidential Staff Award shall be a full-time employee at PV for a period of not less than three consecutive years.

The Presidentā€™s Staff Award Nominee should have:

  • A record of distinguished service.

Nomination and Selection Process

A call for nomination is issued through Campus Announcements. Nominations are open to all members of the PV community.

Review Process

The president or her designee shall appoint a review/selection committee. The review/selection committee includes a representative from the faculty and staff and a past Presidentā€™s Staff Award recipient when available. The appointed committee will review the nominating packet and may interview candidates. From those nominations, the committee will select up to three finalists and make its recommendation to the president.

Supporting Documentation

Nominations should include:

  • A letter of nomination.
  • A summary of the nomineeā€™s most outstanding achievements.
  • A current and moderately detailed resume.

Final Selection

The president, from the list of finalists presented by the committee, will select the Presidential Award winner. The announcement and recognition of the individual(s) selected will be made during an Awards Ceremony.
