Several administrators from PVAMU  and other stakeholders were invited by the City of Prairie View Planning Committee for the Waller Counter 150th Year Commemoration to a Meet-and-Greet event at Prairie View City Hall.  Each attendee was asked to share his or her connection to the event as well as a personal anecdote.   The Honorable Frank D. Jackson, former mayor of the City of Prairie View, provided a historical reflection of the region including the early years of PVAMU.  He also appealed to representatives of PVAMU to engage with the local community to build connections of mutual benefit.   Additionally,  a couple of announcements were made by other presenters regarding upcoming events related to the Commemoration, including the Famer’s Market event scheduled for May 3rd, organized by PVAMU and the City of Prairie View and to be held in PVAMU’s Cooperative Extension Bldg.
