Steps to Enrollment

Congratulations on your acceptance to Prairie View A&M University (PV or PVAMU). Go Panthers! Your first step on your journey toward becoming a legend was to submit your application for admission. PV’s application is straightforward and easy to fill out. If you have not applied to the PV, please review the information at the following link and apply now, How To Apply to PV.

The next step on your path will be to follow your Steps to Enrollment. The steps below include both requirements and recommendations for successful enrollment.

As a new Panther the University will communicate with you using your Panther email address (####@pvamu.edu). To begin using your new Panther email account, reset using the online password reset tool. Visit the PVAMU Password Reset site. If you experience any issues with the tool, please call (936) 261-2525 and indicate you are a new Panther and are experiencing issues resetting your password. This step is a requirement.

The next step is to complete your Intent to Enroll. You will receive an email notification and be asked to reply to inform us of your intent to register for classes. As a new Panther, your email will be your most valuable tool. Make sure it works by reviewing Step 1 to ensure you have access to your new Panther email account. During your Panther experience, Treasury Services will be a key department in a long list of support areas. Treasury Services assist our Panthers with their tuition & fee accounts, issuing refunds, providing billing statements, and tax forms such as the 1098-T form, and receiving and managing all incoming funds for the University. Please review the information at the link provided to select your tuition rate and ensure your financial requirements are met. Additional financial requirements:

  1. Accept Payment Agreement and Refund Selection.
  2. Sign the Payment Agreement and Complete Refund Selections

Bacterial meningitis is a serious infection of the central nervous system. Not only that, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requires that incoming college & university students show evidence of an initial bacterial meningitis vaccine or prove a booster dose during the five-year preceding. Visit the Mandatory Meningitis Information site for additional information. If there are any issues uploading your immunization forms, please call (936) 261-1000 (Option 1) or email Admissions@pvamu.edu. This step is a requirement.

Additional requirements:

  1. The vaccination must be administered at least ten days before the first day of class.
  2. If you are under the age of 22 you must complete and submit your immunization records.

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state-legislated program that assists students entering Texas public colleges and universities with reading, writing, and mathematics skills. All incoming students who enroll in a Texas public institution must take the TSI Assessment to determine their readiness in the general areas of reading, writing, and mathematics college-level work unless students meet exemption requirements. The TSI Office will email students after they are admitted informing them of their TSI status. Visit the TSI Assessment site for additional information. Again, congratulations on joining “The Hill”. Register for New Student Orientation (NSO). Full participation in NSO exposes you to information about academic programs, student support services, and extracurricular opportunities at PVAMU. Remember, you are required to register and complete all aspects of the New Student Orientation experience in order to register for classes. To register, please visit the New Student Orientation site. This step is a requirement.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 known to most as FERPA is a federal law that establishes the privacy rights of students (Parents, if the student is under the age of 18 with regards to educational records).

Prairie View A&M University will uphold student confidentiality rights and protect access to information as provided by the Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. ?? 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99). The act applies to all individuals formerly and currently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University. No exclusion is made for non-US citizen students. However, the act does not apply to a person who has applied for admission, but who never actually enrolled in or attended the institution and a deceased person. Exception as allowed by law, information from the student’s record will only be released with the consent of the student. To complete your FERPA Release Form, access your Panther portal Panthertracks by logging into PV Place. 

PVAMU’s priority date to apply for federal student aid changes each year. To qualify for student aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and submit any required documents to Financial Aid using Panther Pass. International students might qualify for federal student aid, visit StudentAid.gov for more information. If you need additional information on your financial aid and available scholarships visit the Financial Aid site or by calling (936) 261-1000 and select option 1, or email: fadmail@pvamu.edu. As a PV Panther, you have access to a number of scholarships for undergraduate, graduate, transfer, and continuing students that show promise through academics, leadership, and/or community involvement. Several scholarships are made available to the student body per the generous donations of alumni and friends of the University.
