Word Press is used by Prairie View A&M University as the content management system for campus wide website maintenance. Two levels of trainings are provided, Basic and Advanced.
Basic Training covers topics for users who will primarily be updating existing web content and adding new content to their websites. It teaches the user about adding new webpages, adding images, hyperlinks, formatting content and structuring the website.
Advanced training covers topics such as adding image sliders, adding news and events and modifying the menus and look and feel of the homepage.
To receive this training, please register for one of the upcoming classes using the Online Training Registration Form.
Online Forms Creation
Office of Web Services provides training for existing content managers on how to create online forms to collect information.
We also create online forms for departments that do not have a dedicated web content manager. To request an online form, please use the Online Form Creation Request .
Web Services helps departments create online surveys that can be deployed using the website. Custom Reports are then generated and departments are provided access to view and download reports.
The surveys are created by Web Services and can be requested using Online Form Creation Request.
Prairie View A&M University checks all the webpages currently hosted on our website for compliance with University Web Accessibility and Usability. Violations are reported to the concerned departments for corrective actions.
Website Quality Check
One to the checks web services performs of the website is for quality assurance. We check for broken hyperlinks and spellings mistakes. A weekly report containing the results of this check is emailed to each department to provide assistance with improving their websites.
House Bill 2504
HB2504 states: “Each institution of higher education, other than a medical and dental unit, shall make available to the public on the institution’s Internet website certain undergraduate course information, and information about available work-study opportunities”.
Web Services maintains the system and handles requests from departments and faculty members for Course Syllabus and Curriculum Vita updates.
