WordPress is used by Prairie View A&M University as the content management system for campus-wide website maintenance. Three levels of training are provided:
- Basic WordPress Training – Instructs on how to create, edit and delete content (text, images and hyperlinks) for web pages, news posts and calendar events.
- Intermediate WordPress Training - Instructs on how to add image sliders, custom menus and creating complex layouts on a web page.
- Specialized WordPress Training - Instructs on how to create/utilize specific items such as Online Forms/Surveys and Per Page Widgets.
You may register for a training session in our Training Registration page. An employee must attend a Basic WordPress Training session prior to obtaining access to his/her departmental site.
Website Quality Check
Prairie View A&M University periodically checks all the webpages currently hosted on our website for quality assurance. Web Services checks sites for broken hyperlinks, spelling mistakes and possible formatting issues. A weekly report containing the results of this check is emailed to each department to assist with improving a department’s online presence.
Website Accessibility Check
Prairie View A&M University periodically checks all the webpages currently hosted on our website for compliance with University Web Accessibility and Usability. Violations found in web pages/sites are reported to the respective departments for corrective actions.
Online Forms/Surveys Creation
The Office of Web Services provides training to existing department Web Administrators on how to create online forms to collect information. We also create online forms for departments that do not have a dedicated Web Administrator. The data collected by forms/surveys can be exported having a *.CSV format to be opened by Microsoft Excel. Please note that a form creation request email should go to a local department’s Web Administrator first. If your department does not have a Web Administrator or you are a Web Administrator and need the creation of a complex form, please use the Online Form Creation Request to have Web Services create a form/survey for you.
House Bill 2504
HB2504 states: “Each institution of higher education, other than a medical and dental unit, shall make available to the public on the institution’s Internet website certain undergraduate course information, and information about available work-study opportunities”.
Web Services maintains the system and handles requests from departments and faculty members for Course Syllabus and Curriculum Vita updates. You may read more about PVAMU’s implementation of HB2504
