Program for System Admission
The Program for System Admission (PSA) is an alternative admission program for selected students not offered freshman admission to Texas A&M University. PSA provides students the opportunity to attend a Texas A&M University System (TAMU) institution with the goal of enrolling at Texas A&M in College Station after the successful completion of the first year.
Things to Know
The PSA program is for SPECIFIC majors, requiring SPECIFIC courses, SPECIFIC GPAs, and other requirements in order to be eligible to transfer to TAMU.
- Check Texas Success Initiative (TSI) compliance and Math readiness
- Check with PSA advisor to determine if developmental and/or pre-requisite Math and/or English courses should be taken prior to the fall semester to stay on track with the chosen degree plan.
- Most degree plans require Calculus-level Math courses
- Dual credit can be used to satisfy a bolded italicized course. However, you will still be required to complete at least 24 hours in residence at a single system school by the end of the spring semester of your first year of college.
- Dual credit grades will be factored into the cumulative GPA calculation. PSA requires you to have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on all transferable coursework, which includes dual credit. Additionally, you will need to have a 3.0 GPA or higher on coursework you complete at your specific system school. Some degree plans require a grade of ‘B’ or better in certain courses.
- Credit by examination (AP/IB/CLEP) cannot be used to satisfy a bolded italicized course. Bolded italicized courses must be taken for a grade, either at the system school or via dual credit in high school. Credit by examination can be used to satisfy coursework from the lower box on any degree plan. However, those hours will not count toward the 24-hour residence requirement.
