Your advisor can be found by checking DegreeWorks, where you will find two advisors listed: a primary advisor and a secondary advisor. You may also find an advisor by visiting the “Academic and Professional Advisors” tab and finding the letter of your last name under the faculty member’s name.

What do I do if I don’t see an advisor listed on my DegreeWorks?
If your advisor is not listed on DegreeWorks, you may find your advisor on the “Academic and Professional Advisors” tab. Advisors are assigned to a faculty member according to the student’s last name and major. Find the faculty member listed with your last name’s initial.

How can I make sure my DegreeWorks is up to date or correct?
DegreeWorks show courses as “completed,” “in progress,” or “needed” under the main categories of “University Core,” “Major,” and “Minor/Non-Restricted Electives/Certification.” It is important to schedule a meeting with your appointed advisor to discuss any questions or concerns.

Do I have to take the classes in the order presented on the Health and Kinesiology Degree Plans and Minors?
Students are advised to take required classes for their major in order: 1000 level courses are taken first (Freshman), followed by 2000 (Sophomore), 3000 (Junior), and 4000 (Senior) levels. It is important to prioritize taking your classes in this order because each course provides foundational knowledge for the next course.

Do I have to retake a class that is needed to complete my major requirements if I made a D?
Yes, you have to receive a grade of C or better in all major courses.

Is the internship mandatory for the completion of the health and/or kinesiology degree?
The internship opportunity offered, KINE 4196, is not required for degree completion. Students may take other courses within the degree plan if they do not want to enroll in the internship class, which counts as six (6) hours towards your major. Advisor guidance is required to enroll in KINE 4196.
