PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (March 1, 2024) — Suxia Cui, Ph.D., has received a sub-award grant exceeding $15,000 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES).

Cui is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Prairie View A&M University.

Additionally, this grant initiative involves collaboration with esteemed researchers from Texas A&M University, including P.R. Kumar, Ph.D., Shuiwang Ji, Ph.D., Satish Bukkapatnam, Ph.D., Ibahim Karaman, Ph.D., and Bimal Nepal, Ph.D.

This initiative aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • Identify two master’s students whose expertise aligns with the project’s research domains, such as data science, AI, and learning theory applied to materials design and manufacturing. Over the course of years 2 and 3, one student per year will be chosen, totaling two graduate students recruited from PVAMU throughout the project’s duration.
  • Provide joint supervision for the graduate students as they work on their theses. This collaborative approach ensures that students benefit from the expertise of both Dr. Cui and their counterparts at Texas A&M University.
  • Offer the graduate students a 6-week summer research internship in the PIs’ lab at TAMU. This internship provides invaluable hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge research in the field. Following the internship, students will return to PVAMU to continue their thesis work, maintaining a connection between both institutions.

Throughout this process, Dr. Cui will oversee the students’ progress, ensuring a seamless integration of research efforts and maximizing the educational benefits for the students involved.
