PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (July 25, 2024) – Jeanelle Hope, Ph.D., has been awarded $150,000 in grant funding by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Hope is the Director & Associate Professor of African American Studies in the Samuel Brailsford College of Arts & Sciences at Prairie View A&M University.
Farrah Cambrice, Ph.D., Marco Robinson, Ph.D., and Elizabeth Whittington, Ph.D. will serve as Co-Principal Investigators for the project.
The grant’s objective is to enrich faculty and develop the curriculum to bolster support for the university’s newly launched African American Studies program. This project will be undertaken by five faculty members on campus who have been integral to the development of the African American Studies program. They are best suited to teach our core courses based on their academic backgrounds, active research agendas, and experience with curriculum development. Once implemented, we anticipate that our work will boost program enrollment and attract non-majors and minor students to take our elective courses, which we intend to submit for credit designation within the University Core Curriculum.
