SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA – APPLIES TO ALL APPLICANTS
- The scholarship is available only to Texas residents and U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- The scholarship is designed to ease students’ financial burden related to their tuition and educational expenses
- The scholarship covers costs up to $2,000 per semester or $4,000 per academic year for 6 credit hours only at the graduate level
- Students must be enrolled in at least 2 courses (6 SCH) at NWHC during a long semester (fall or spring)
- Scholarships will be strategically awarded to support all degree programs offered at the Northwest Houston Center
- Scholarships are competitive and merit-based
- Students must be new to NWHC programs to be eligible for first-time scholarship consideration
- Scholarship recipients must seek and gain admission (GoApplyTexas.org) to their selected degree program at PVAMU before funds can be awarded
- The scholarship is generally unavailable in summer. If funds become available, limited scholarships may be awarded on a case-by-case basis
- The scholarship may be combined with another scholarship, following applicable Financial Aid Office guidelines.
GRADUATE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP (not available to EMBA students)
- Scholarship is limited to students enrolled in PVAMU programs offered at the Northwest Houston Center
- First-time applicants must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00
- Scholarships may be available on a competitive basis to continuing students who have performed well (GPA of 3.50 or higher).
APPLICATION DEADLINES
The General Scholarship application is made available annually during the spring semester for consideration of scholarship funding for the ensuing academic year. Students may not apply for scholarship funding through the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships after the deadline has passed. Only students who have submitted the application will be considered for scholarship funding.
