It matters to the small, underserved veterans, ranchers, and beginning farmers and ranchers on our food systems’ agriculture frontlines. Everyone who is seeking access to food security understands that safe food matters. As a result, we realize that many state and federal policies, programs, and actions shape our environment, communities, and family health.

There are often threats from policies that lack support for small farmers and the economic implication and struggle around agriculture.

Prairie View A&M University CAHS, CARC, CEP, and AgNR works to influence our decision-makers, give voice to the needs of small- and mid-sized producers, and advocate for policies that are genuinely in the interest of small, underserved, veterans, ranchers, and beginning farmers and ranchers, and family farmers.
