Dr. Dorie J. Gilbert
Dean, Arts and Sciences (Brailsford)

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Marvin D. and June Samuel Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences. At PVAMU’s Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences, we promote excellence in teaching and research, diversity, and unity. Our objective is to prepare students who will make a difference in the world.

The College consists of nine departments and one division offering courses leading to thirteen degrees at the Bachelor’s level, four degrees at the Master’s level, and one doctorate. Through its Army and Navy ROTC programs, the College helps develop the next generation of leaders in the Armed Forces.  The College leads in research and public outreach efforts through its KPVU Radio Station, the Ruth J. Simmons Center for Race and Justice, and the MACH III Center.  We seek to develop in our students the traditional liberal arts skills of critical thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and communication. Furthermore, we intend for our students to acquire some depth in a major field by understanding how knowledge is generated, organized, accessed, and given meaning.

We hope that this website will meet your information needs, however, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
