PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (December 17, 2024) – Noushin Ghaffari, Ph.D., a tenure-track assistant professor in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University, has been awarded a $600,000 grant from Texas Southern University through the Department of Defense Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Lin Li, Ph.D., an associate professor at Prairie View A&M, will serve as co-principal investigator on the project.

The initiative aims to promote diversity by advancing scientific machine learning (SciML) and data science programs at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). It will actively engage students in cutting-edge research, preparing them for impactful careers in STEM fields.

The anticipated impact extends across academia and industry, fostering innovation, expanding opportunities for students and researchers at HBCUs like Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University, and addressing critical scientific challenges. This project is poised to empower the next generation of scientists and engineers while advancing the frontiers of knowledge in SciML and data science.
