Our PVAMU Student Recreation Center provides a fun-filled pool that serves as an awesome entity for recreational sports. The heated pool ranges from 3ft – 12ft, providing 6 lap lanes, along with an aqua-climbing wall that towers over a pool workout. It’s open year-round and hosts a variety of special events like Tube N Flick, Swim Challenges, Intramural Battleship, and Outdoor Pursuits kayaking clinics. We also offer activities such as volleyball, water aerobics, Deep Water Fitness, water polo, and Private Swimming Parties. Some of the Red Cross programs included are Learn-to-Swim Instructional, Deep Water Life Guarding, and CPR/AED Certifications.

Swimming is a great recreational activity for people of all ages and is a good all-round activity that takes some of the impact stress off your body while building endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. It helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy heart, and lungs. It also provides an all-over body workout, as nearly all of your muscles are used during swimming. Recreational swimming can provide you with a low-impact workout and it’s also a good way to relax and feel good.

We are proudly committed to the health and well-being of our Rec Center family and Prairie View A&M University community. As we navigate reopening and determine the safest way to phase in additional programs and events we ask for your patience. Each of us will play an important role in keeping the Rec Center a safe place for us all. Please check back with us regularly by visiting our website.
