The purpose of the College of Nursing is to prepare beginning professionals as nurse generalists (BSN); and graduate prepared nurses with an area of specialization(MSN) and/or a doctoral prepared (DNP) expert clinical practice scholar, all of whom have foundations for continuing personal, professional, and educational growth.  To assist in this goal, the College of Nursing partners with over 200 healthcare entities (hospitals, clinics, schools, senior-living facilities and community centers) throughout the greater Houston area to provide clinical practicum opportunities, and future placement into nursing positions for its students. HCA Healthcare West is one of those partners. With the shortage of available nurses, this interview session marks the second at Prairie View for HCA Healthcare this year. Six graduating nursing student were interviewed. According to HCA, students were well-prepared for the interview, and displayed maturity when questioned about their future goals in nursing. During spring 2023,  Prairie View College of Nursing is scheduled to graduate 68 students with bachelor of science in nursing degrees, nine students earning advanced degrees or masters in nursing students, and four students earning the doctorate of nursing practice, which reduces the nursing workforce shortage.
