Lutricia Harrison

I am Dr. Lutricia Harrison DNP, APRN, FNP-BC from Houston, Texas. I practice in an independently owned nurse practitioner clinic as a primary care provider providing services across the lifespan in a medically underserved and socioeconomic area of North Houston. In 2004, I obtained my Master of Science in Nursing degree from Prairie View A&M University and in 2013 I obtained my Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing.

My passion for caring for patients started in my childhood. I fell in love with nursing at an early age while assisting my mother who was also a nurse and compassionate about the care she provided. Her exuberance and giving spirit personified holistic care and I have always strived to provide the same care to my patients by treating the whole person-mentally, physically and spiritually. I’ve always wanted to be a provider with a compassionate heart the size of Texas.

In addition to providing patient care, I love to educate students. I have taught many nursing students at all levels of nursing education. Currently, I am a Clinical Adjunct Faculty member at the University of Texas Health Science Center. I also teach Pharmacology for Advanced Practice students at Simmons University. In addition, I precept Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice students at my clinic.

My passion for education has led to many speaking engagements. I was the Keynote speaker for the Prairie View A & M University MSN graduating class of 2019. I have presented on From Employee to Entrepreneur for both Houston Area Nurse Practitioner Associations. Additionally, I have testified multiple times before the Texas Legislature in both the House of Representatives and the Senate on independent practice authority for Nurse Practitioners in the state of Texas.

I am a Founding Member of the National Black Nurse Practitioner Association and have served as Vice President and President of this organization in the past. Currently I serve as the chair of the education committee. As the chair of the education committee, we have implemented continuing education opportunities for nurse practitioners virtually and in person.

I am the Visionary Leader of the Total Fit Ministry for my local church. We provide care for anyone who may become ill while in church as well all the health education.

In 2019, I was selected to receive the President’s Award from the Texas Nurse Practitioner Association and in 2021, I was elected to serve as a Board Member at Large for the Texas Nurse Practitioner Association.

Lastly, I love to spend time with my husband and our five children. We enjoy taking vacations together. I also love to read and relaxing by blue water.
