About the Conference

Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) will host the 2022 American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Gulf-Southwest (GSW) Section conference. The conference will be held March 16-18, 2022, on the campus of PVAMU.

The theme of the conference is “Engineering Education for Productive People: Preparing Students for the Changing Work Environments.” Professor John Attia, from the PVAMU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is the chair of the conference. The deadline for abstract submission for a conference presentation is November 15, 2021.

Through the Gulf-Southwest Section, members participate in professional activities at the local level and form regional networks of educators with common interests and goals. Section activities include conducting an annual section conference; conducting workshops and professional development activities for faculty members and administrators; sponsoring awards for professional excellence; and issuing newsletters.

Additional Information

  • The conference will be attended by faculty members, administrators, staff, professionals and students from around the United States and beyond.
  • The conference provides opportunities for faculty members and staff to publish and present on educational projects and classroom innovations.
  • It also provides opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students to publish and present their technical research.
  • There will be monetary awards for both faculty and student paper presentations.
  • All papers will be referred and included in the ASEE Peer Document Repository (peer.asee.org) portal for ASEE conference papers (i.e. searchable).

About PVAMU

Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University System, is a state-assisted, public, comprehensive land grant institution of higher education. It was founded in 1876 and it is the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state of Texas. About the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering

The Roy G. Perry College of Engineering offers six Bachelor of Science degrees which include Chemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Technology. In addition, the College offers five graduate degrees which include General Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering. The College provides students with the highest level of quality education, engages the student in research and hands-on projects. The faculty members include fellows of professional societies, owners of US patents, authors of over 70 engineering textbooks and publishers of refereed journal papers. The faculty members and students are involved in various research projects in our eleven outstanding research centers where students are developing innovative ways to efficiently create change in our environment.
