Last fall, the campus community started the process to shift towards managing COVID, similar to other infectious diseases such as influenza and the common cold. In preparation for the fall of 2023, the following guidance is provided to students and employees.

  1. Individuals who are ill will be asked to adhere to best practices in public health such as masking, handwashing, and social distancing to help reduce the spread of illness across campus.
  2. Students or employees will no longer require MANDATORY self-reporting. A positive COVID diagnosis will be treated like any other illness.
    1. Employees will be responsible for communicating with their supervisor regarding COVID, similarly to any other illness.
    2. Students will be responsible for communicating with their professors regarding COVID, similarly to any other illness.
  3. There will be no mandatory isolation. Individuals who are too ill to engage in work or classroom activities are responsible for securing the appropriate documentation to support the absence.
    1. Employees who self-isolate are responsible for coordinating the leave with their supervisor.
    2. Students who self-isolate are responsible for communicating with their professors and securing an excuse from Student Conduct.
      1. All students have access to TimelyCare, a telehealth platform that provides virtual medical care 24/7 and by appointment in the Student Health Clinic. Students are encouraged to enroll with TimelyCare at the beginning of the fall semester.
  4. The COVID hotline is no longer operational. For answers to questions, www.pvamu.edu/coronavirus will be the best source of information.
  5. Students will have access to COVID testing in the student health clinic by appointment.
