PECOP FELLOWSHIP HOME 2023 PROGRAM

The program will take place June 5 – August 11, 2023

To participate in the program you must:

  • Be a junior or non-graduated senior, underrepresented minority enrolled at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU), Texas A&M University (TAMU), or sophomore at Houston Community College (HCC),
  • Be majoring in nutrition and dietetics, human sciences, health & kinesiology, early childhood education or agricultural sciences,
  • Be at least 18 years of age, and
  • Have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
  • Be a US citizen or a permanent resident
  • Submit an application including a personal statement/essay using the link at end of the flyer. Personal statement/essays should be one page in length describing student’s research interests, educational and career goals, and related experience (e.g. community nutrition programs, childcare education, laboratory, etc.)

PECOP Fellowship program highlights:

Participants will attend lectures, seminars, and workshops as well as embark on outreach activities for experiential learning and professional development. Students will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained by a multidisciplinary pool of faculty, practitioners, and specialists in nutrition and dietetics, early childhood development and education, agricultural and food sciences, health education, and mathematics. During this period, students will also work with mothers and children in the community, through which they will set up their educational and research goals for the experience.
