PECOP FELLOWSHIP HOME
The Research and Extension Experiences for Undergraduate (REEU) under the flagship of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) promotes research and extension learning experiences for undergraduates such that upon graduation they may enter the agricultural workforce/related fields or graduate school with exceptional skills. The NIFA provides funding for food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences. This initiative allows colleges and universities to provide fellowship opportunities for undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged groups, minority-serving institutions, community colleges, and universities. The projects under the REEU will provide opportunities for the development of leadership skills, which are necessary for preparing project participants for agriculture-related careers in the private sector, government, and academia. Projects will demonstrably incorporate a leadership development component through competencies such as critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, and training in ethics and professionalism.
