May 24 – Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently co-hosted the Texas Youth Summit, which was designed to increase awareness of careers and opportunities in agriculture. The two-day virtual summit was open to K-12 students, teachers, administrators, youth organizations, and community-based organizations. College of Agriculture and Human Sciences graduate Russell Thomas ‘20 also shared how participating in the summit shifted his academic focus toward agriculture, leading him to study agriculture business. Thomas now works for the USDA’s Economic Research Service.
