Bachelor of Science in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics offers an innovative and comprehensive undergraduate program in mathematics from which a major may select one of three emphasis options: Statistics, Applied Mathematics and Mathematics Teaching.
Students are encouraged to be creative in putting together a course of study that will lead to the fulfillment of individual professional goals. The curricula are rigorous and demanding but flexible enough to allow students to sample several disciplines or to focus on a special interest within the major area. Faculty advisors are available to assist the students on a continual basis to ensure proper course selection toward graduation and relative to career goals.

Meet Mr. Gilmore

Mr. Curtis Gilmore graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Mr. Gilmore was a graduate assistant, president of the Math Club, a mentor and example to many people across the PVAMU campus.
Mr. Gilmore is a NASA ISS Certified Flight Controller. This includes the integration/disintegration of cargo for all visiting vehicles to the International Space Station (ISS). This group is the single point of contact for real-time stowage, and inventory tracking across multiple systems and multiple countries including Canada, Russian, and Japan. The position also requires regular conferences with the crew aboard the International Space Station.
