Facilities

Students in the Department of Mathematics have access to many different opportunities and enhancements meant to further their content knowledge as well as their academic career. The following is a sampling of such opportunities:

  • The Mathematics Lab, operated by the Department of Mathematics, in W.R. Banks Room 303 is available to all Prairie View A&M University students. This lab functions as a homework and content enhancement for students requiring or desiring assistance with their coursework. The lab has also been used as a tutorial lab, where some faculty may use the lab to serve as a small group or individual tutorial resource for more directed assistance.
  • The Department of Mathematics recently opened a computer lab (W.R. Banks Room 305) to assist students with their homework or other course needs. Given that many of the Core Curriculum courses offered by the Department of Mathematics utilize online homework management systems, the computer lab is a perfect complement with regards to assistance that students can utilize.
  • A Department of Mathematics Library is available for mathematics majors to use for study purposes as well as meetings. The departmental library is equipped with mathematics textbooks as well as relevant academic research journals issues.
  • The Department of Mathematics operates a computer lab in W.R. Banks Room 317. This recently updated lab also serves as a presentation room for colloquium presentations and special lectures hosted by the department. This lab can also be used for technology presentations.
