On December 8, 2020, the Alvin ISD Board unanimously approved the naming of their upcoming 21st elementary school. The new facility will be named Delbra Nichols—Wilma Mock Elementary School. Alumnus Eddie J. Smith, who started with the PVAMU Army ROTC program in 1988, recently achieved selection for promotion to Colonel in the U.S. Army.
