Prairie View A&M University hosted its annual Founders’ Day and Honors Recognition Convocation on March 28, in the William “Billy” J. Nicks, Sr. Building. PVAMU’s College of Nursing, which is celebrating 100 years of service this year, hosted the event with the theme, “A Tradition of Excellence: Honoring Our Past and Navigating Our Future.”

“It was a privilege to gather with the University’s community, family and friends to celebrate our top academic achievers,” said Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs James Palmer. “Our honorees’ creative and intellectual prowess truly honors our past and will help navigate not only their futures but also the futures of generations to come.”

During the program, PVAMU student Jonathon D. Randle and community member Dr. Bettye Davis Lewis received the 2018 Humanitarian Award. This year’s keynote speaker was Dr. Romeatrius Moss, an active duty Air Force Nurse who is also the founder, president, and CEO of Black Nurses Rock.
