Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8 am – 3 pm for face-to-face and virtual student support, and closed from 3 pm – 5 pm for business processing.

Which type of student are you?

A freshman student is an individual who has graduated or will graduate from an accredited high school, home-school, GED before enrolling at PVAMU.
transfer
A transfer student is an individual who has attended an accredited college or university with15 transferable semester credit hours and a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better from the last institution attended.

An individual who has engaged active duty in the United States armed forces and was released under a condition other than dishonorable.
international students
An international student is an individual who is enrolled for credit at an accredited higher education institution in the U.S. on a temporary visa, and who is not an immigrant (permanent resident with an I-51 or Green Card), or an undocumented immigrant, or a refugee.

Additional Admission Information

Former Students

Students who have previously attended Prairie View A&M University and do not enroll for courses during one or more semesters or students returning from active duty must submit an application for admission and pay an application processing fee. If a student has attended any other institution while away from Prairie View A&M University, the student will be classified as a former student. Transfer credits will be evaluated and applied as appropriate.

Home Schooled Students who graduate from a non-accredited high school must submit the following:

All students who graduate from an accredited High School are eligible to apply for admissions.

Section 51.931 of the Texas Education Code, a Texas resident may apply for admission to the University as an undergraduate student and request that course credits or grades earned 10 or more years be deleted prior to the semester the applicant plans to enroll.

Students must submit a written request for “Academic Fresh Start” prior to course registration, to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

High-achieving high school seniors from local high schools are offered the opportunity to enroll in selected college-level classes to earn college credits. These banked college credits will not be issued until the student has graduated from high school and met the admission requirements. Students interested in this program should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
