First Time Testers

Anyone who has never taken the TEAS exam—including through PVAMU Testing Services, at a PSI testing center, at any other college or university, or online.

Retesters

Anyone who has taken the TEAS exam before—regardless of whether it was through PVAMU Testing Services, a PSI testing center, another institution, or online—and is taking it again.

TEAS Exam Attempts

PVAMU Nursing school applicants are allowed to take the TEAS exam up to two times, regardless of where the exam was taken—PVAMU Testing Services, PSI testing centers, other institutions, or online. Prairie View Nursing will not accept TEAS scores from applicants who have taken the exam more than twice. Additionally, there Is not waiting period between first-time and retesting for the PVAMU Nursing program; however, if you are planning to send your TEAS exam scores to multiple institutions, it is your responsibility to check and verify the TEAS exam policies for those institutions to see if they have a waiting period and follow them accordingly.

PVAMU TEAS Remediation Policy If you need to retake the TEAS exam, visit www.pvamu.edu/teas and review the “ATI TEAS – Study Materials”. Additionally, you can contact the Pre-Nursing office at (936) 261-2920 for more remediation options. Additionally, various test preparation/remediation resources are also available through our institution. Testers can contact the Pre-Nursing department at (936) 261-2920 or the University Tutoring Center at (936) 261-1561 to inquire about tutoring and other test prep information. PVAMU TEAS Retest Policy I acknowledge that there is no waiting period between first-time testing and retesting for the PVAMU Nursing program; however, if I am planning to send my TEAS exam scores to multiple institution, it is my responsibility to check and verify the TEAS exam policies for those institutions to see if they have a waiting period and follow them accordingly. I also acknowledge that if a retest is necessary, I should pursue tutoring and/or remediation prior to retaking the TEAS exam. Additionally, I must review my initial test scores to identify which sections require retesting, and I am required to retake all necessary sections during the retest. Should I choose not to pursue tutoring or remediation, I release the College of Nursing, the Office of Pre-Nursing, the P.A.S.S. Center, the University Tutoring Center, the Office of Testing Services, as well as the advisors from both the College of Nursing and the Pre-Nursing Office, and Prairie View A&M University from any liability resulting from taking the exam without such preparation. I also recognize the increased likelihood of not achieving the minimum required scores on my second attempt. I understand that failing to meet the minimum passing scores on the TEAS exam after two attempts (regardless of where I take the exam) will disqualify me from admission to the Generic Nursing Program at Prairie View A&M University and, if I am a current student, will lead to a Major Change from Pre-Nursing. Additionally, I am aware that a Change of Major Hold will be placed on my student account, which can only be lifted after consulting with a Pre-Nursing Advisor. Test Integrity Testers are required to adhere to all test integrity standards from their test sponsor as well as our test center. To maintain the integrity of our exams, certain items are not permitted or prohibited during testing. Testers should review the Testing Services – Test Integrity policy to understand which items are not allowed in the testing lab and to familiarize themselves with our guidelines. All individuals using our center to take exams (whether in-person, remote, online) agree to comply with our test integrity policy. Testing Violations Policy Violations of this policy will result in invalidated exam scores, and the tester may be prohibited from using the Office of Testing Services for a specified duration. Testing Services will report any violations to the Office of Student Conduct and the College of Nursing at Prairie View A&M University. Testing Irregularity Policy When taking the TEAS exam in person at Prairie View A&M University test site or at a PSI test site, it is my responsibility to report any issues to the test proctors during the exam or before leaving the facility. For online testing, I must call 1 (800) 667-7531 about any issues that arise on the same day I take the exam, ideally immediately after completing the virtual session.*

TEAS Test Accommodations

Test Accommodations are available for testers with documented disabilities. All testers are obligated to self-identify and testers must request Test Accommodations every time they want to test. Testers must submit and have test accommodations request approve prior to registering for the exam. For more information, please go to www.pvamu.edu/ots-accommodations.

Face Masks Policy

Face Masks are not allowed; however, if worn for a medical reason, then the face masks will be inspected during check in.

Head Coverings Policy

Head coverings of any kind (e.g., hats, hoods, bonnets, durags, scarves, etc.) may not be worn, unless the head covering is religious apparel. Testers who do not comply with this policy will have to reschedule their exam.

Smart Glasses/Eye Wear Policy

Testers are not allowed to wear Smart Glasses for the exam. Testers can only wear a standard pair of glasses without this technology for testing.

Exam Fees Policy

The TEAS exam cost $80. Testers will forfeit exam fees if they do not appear for their test appointment, arrive for testing after check in closes, or do not present proper photo identification for testing.
