Engineering Scholars are eligible for up to three years of additional funding contingent upon the student maintaining program eligibility criteria.  Continued funding for students that were supported during the previous academic year is based on the following:

  1. Student maintained a 3.0 grade point average.
  2. Student made progress towards degree attainment by completing at least 30 credit hours the previous year.
  3. Student participated in at least 70% of program activities, (e.g. cohort meetings, professional development workshops, study groups, meetings with mentors, etc.).
  4. Student has continued financial need.

If a student fails to meet the aforementioned criteria, he/she will be placed on probation. Such students will continue to receive their scholarship and will receive mentoring on how to bring their GPA up. The student will also be provided access to tutoring, faculty, and peer remediation resources. Students who fail to meet the GPA criterion for two consecutive semesters will not have their scholarship renewed for the upcoming semester. However, those students will still be allowed to participate in professional development activities. Failure to improve the GPA will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. The available scholarship will then be awarded to a new applicant.
