PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (May 5, 2025) — Gloria Regisford, Ph.D., a Texas A&M University System Regents Professor and associate dean for research in the Samuel Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences at Prairie View A&M University, has secured more than $230,000 in grant funding from Texas A&M University through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Mental Health.
The funding supports PVAMU’s role in a broader research leadership training program under grant R25MH129792. (The NIH grant R25MH129792 is part of the Research Education Program (R25) funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The program is designed to recruit and support three postdoctoral researchers or early-career faculty members each year. These fellows will participate in executive leadership training and conduct collaborative research with faculty mentors from the Texas A&M Institute for Neuroscience (TAMIN).
Each fellow will receive support at 66% effort for up to eight months, allowing them to fully engage in training and research without teaching obligations. For PVAMU participants, the funds will cover one long semester and summer months to support the development of collaborative research projects with TAMIN faculty.
The goal is to provide researchers with the time and resources to focus on leadership development and research activities independently of other grant support.
Dr. Regisford will lead recruitment and oversee the selection of PVAMU fellows. She will manage the program’s funds, maintain records, and ensure fellows meet all program requirements. As a member of the grant leadership team, she will attend meetings, contribute to annual reports, and support program evaluation efforts. Her primary point of contact for the program is Sherece Fields, Ph.D., at Texas A&M.
