PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas (January 8, 2025) – Phyllis Earles, head of Special Collections and Archives at the John B. Coleman Library at Prairie View A&M University, and Marco T. Robinson, Ph.D., have been awarded a $50,000 grant from the University of California-Irvine, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

The project will involve collecting and preserving oral histories, managing archival resources, and fostering community engagement. Earles will lead archival preservation efforts, coordinate student involvement, and educate participants on the importance of historical documentation. Robinson will spearhead community outreach, conduct interviews, and mentor student assistants, ensuring the project captures diverse perspectives and meets its ambitious goals.

By preserving these narratives, Prairie View A&M University continues to champion historical preservation and community collaboration, underscoring its commitment to fostering knowledge, research, and innovation.
