The Office of Research Compliance (ORC) is responsible for the administration of the University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). ORC is committed to assuring that all research activities are conducted in a manner that promotes the welfare of animal subjects and maintains the integrity of the research. Through the IACUC committee and related programs and activities, the Office of Research Compliance develops and implements university policies related to the areas. The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for the oversight, evaluation, and assurance of compliance for Prairie View A&M University’s animal care and use program. All research, teaching and testing involving vertebrate animals must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC prior to the beginning of work.

Initial IACUC Approval
- IACUC Protocol Application– Updated August 2022
To Amend IACUC Protocol
All amendments to approved protocols must be submitted to the IACUC via an Amendment memo, and approved prior to implementation. Amendments may include, but are not limited to: Addition of personnel, Change in Animal numbers, Change in surgical procedure. When changes to the Principal Investigator are requested, the following form must be completed and submitted:
