Overview

I am pleased to announce that I am appointing a search committee, co-chaired by Dr. Munir Quddus and Dr. Cynthia Carter-Horn, to begin our national search for our permanent provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. The Search Committee will be assisted by Witt Kiefer and will begin its work this month with the hope of filling the position by summer 2024. I thank the committee members for undertaking this very important responsibility.

The Search Committee is charged to (a) develop a strong and diverse pool of candidates, (b) screen eligible applicants, (c) invite finalists for campus interviews and (d) provide its assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of each interviewee.

This position is critically important in ensuring the continued transformation of Prairie View A&M University. We need a leader and a partner who:

  • believes in shared governance,
  • is committed to and experienced in supporting and developing faculty success in teaching, research/scholarship, and service,
  • is committed to deploying a holistic student success model, and
  • understands the unique needs of today’s diverse student body and the complexities of the faculty experience.

The position profile and search process timeline is under development and will be posted to the website once available.

Please help me and the Search Committee in finding our next visionary leader by nominating strong candidates and meeting with finalists when the opportunity to do so becomes available. With your help, we can find a leader who will help us accomplish our bold vision to become a top premier public HBCU.

Thank you for your interest and engagement.

Sincerely,
Tomikia P. LeGrande, Ed.D.
President
