More than ever, engaging content and social media are a must, not just for Marching Bands but for the University. The content that is produced for the Marching Storm aids in recruitment efforts, public relations, television and online programming and marching band events. A strong media team is now a necessary component for all marching bands.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a student at Prairie View A&M University.
  • Does not have to have prior experience, BUT MUST BE WILLING TO LEARN in a fast-paced environment, new media concepts and procedures.
  • All media team members are full members of the Marching Storm. Therefore, must be willing to attend summer Storm camp and attend weekly rehearsals and performances, as required. This includes out-of-town performances and events.
  • Must be able to follow directions, take critique given regarding content and deliverables, and be willing to improve based on directives and critique.
  • Must have good communication skills.

Nice To Have

  • Experience with media equipment (cameras, microphones, gimbals, etc.)
  • Experience with editing software (Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, CapCut)
  • Experience with photo editing/graphics software (Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, etc.)
  • Creative ideas and not afraid to take chances with developing creative content
  • Have an understanding of marching band performances.

Storm Logistics / Equipment Staff

Our Equipment Staff (EQ Team) is the backbone of the Marching Storm. The EQ Team is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring the necessary equipment for rehearsals is in place prior to rehearsal time and picked up after rehearsals
  • Supporting the band and directorial staff during athletic events and other performances
  • Providing basic first aid support to band members during rehearsals and performances
  • Supporting the Black Foxes and Twirling Thunder with equipment during performances
  • Assisting with any equipment needs or props DURING halftime shows.

EQ Team members will be expected to lift and/or move equipment which will sometimes be heavy. 

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a student at Prairie View A&M University.
  • Does not have to have prior experience, BUT MUST BE WILLING TO LEARN in a fast-paced environment.
  • All EQ team members are full members of the Marching Storm. Therefore, must be willing to attend summer Storm camp and attend weekly rehearsals and performances, as required. This includes out-of-town performances and events.
  • Must be able to follow directions, take direction from peer leaders, and be willing to improve based on directives and critique.
  • Must be patient.
  • Must have good communication skills.

Nice To Have

  • Experience working background logistics and equipment support.
  • Experience with or knowledge of marching bands or with theater stage hand work.
  • First Aid certification.

Members of both teams will be required to complete a student physical at the beginning of Marching Storm Camp. Both positions are unpaid, however, members are able to report time worked for community service hours.
