Marching bands are very popular in the Bahamas. They represent official organizations and are used to recruit young students, keep them off the street, and give them a way forward to a college education. The Bahama Brass Band in Nassau sponsored a recruiting event for graduating high school students and also used the event to formally recognize outstanding members of each of the official brass bands on the island. Dr. Zachery represented Prairie View A&M University. Also in attendance were band directors from Benedict College, Talladega College, Langston University and Shaw University. Each director was given the opportunity to audition students who signed up for the event, and offer scholarships to deserving students.

There was also an opportunity for dancers to display their talents for consideration for opportunities with the dance lines at the 5 universities represented. Black Foxes Director, Mrs. Zachery was there to provide a dance workshop for the dancers, give advice on the audition process for HBCUs, as well as judge routines prepared by each dancer for consideration in the Black Foxes audition process.
