GLACIER FAQ’S

♦ What is GLACIER?

GLACIER is a nonresident alien tax compliance system designed for institutions to collect information, determine tax treaty and residency status, manage data and easily file reporting statements with the Internal Revenue Service.  Prairie View A&M University uses this web-based system to certify compliance on payments made to foreign nationals.

♦ Who is required to complete GLACIER?

Any individual who is not a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident that will receive any type of income or payments from PVAMU.

♦ How do I request GLACIER access?

If you are a new employee or student receiving a scholarship, Payroll Services will create a GLACIER profile for you.  An email is generated then sent from GLACIER support@online-tax.net referencing log-in instructions and credentials.  A second email is directed to you from Payroll Services. Complete the online GLACIER process and submit all required documentation to the Payroll Office within 10 business days of the email.

Departments making payments to PVAMU Employees must follow the GLACIER Password request process. Send an email to payroll@pvamu.edu containing the following information:

  • Employee’s full name (first, middle and last)
  • UIN
  • email address for the individual

Departments making payments to Guest Speakers/Independent Contractors/Royalty Recipients should email payroll@pvamu.edu containing the following information:

  • Visitor’s full name (first, middle and last)
  • Visitor’s email address
  • Dates of Visit if applicable

What if I do not submit my GLACIER forms and documents?

Your participation insures proper taxation of payments made to you and applies tax treaty benefits to those eligible.  If you do not complete GLACIER and submit all required forms and documents within 10 days of receiving access, the maximum amount of tax will be withheld from all payments made to you.
