What is a Mental Health Crisis?
A mental health crisis is any situation in which a person’s behavior puts them at risk of hurting themselves or others and or prevents them from being able to care for themselves or function effectively in the community (Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic, 2018).
Examples of a crisis may include but are not limited to, suicidal thoughts, recent sexual assault or abuse or witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event.
